Default Gears throw off Odometer?

I switched out my gears to 3.73s from 3.42s. I have a warrenty that runs out in 36000 miles or 3 years. Since the gears throw off the speedo doesnt that also throw off the odometer? Whats the cheapest and easiest way to correct for the gears?

Yep - speedo reads wrong, thus the odometer does do. You didn't specify what year vehicle this is, but if it's a 94 & up fbody/vette, the easiest way is visiting someone who can tune it for the new gears (takes 5 mins).

yep...get that bad boy tuned. if u plan on doing any performance mods in the near future, just wait to get it tuned. but if ur not gonna do anything for a while then get it tuned now.

OBDII wasn't till '96, so how do they easily change the 94 & 95 model?

If I recall, OBDII doesn't play that much of a factor.

It sounds like you just bought this car?
new?
from a dealership?
and with GM's standard 3yr/36,000 warranty?

I know its possible, since there is still a new f-body in a dealer near me also.

Anyway, if your modding it, your risking losing yoru warranty. So dont tell anyone about the gears, if its an 2002 model or late model, you can get it tuned to fix the speedo.

But, I wouldnt go tuning the PCM for the gears or anything else, until the warranty has exprired or you dont care if you lose the warranty.

I'd go with a speedo calibrator, search you can still find them available, to re-adjust the speedo and milage. Its a plug and play device, going right into the stock wiring harness.

ODBI pcm's for 94 and 95 were a Flashable PCM. 93 was the bitch where you needed a different speedo gear for the trans.
