Default Overheating with GFX

I have a 96 LT1 camaro with Wings west ground effects, its overheating. I dont have the longer airdam. I was wondering if I cut out the plastic piece in the grill and removed the shield behind it to get direct airflow to the radiator, if this would help? I like this look and I will probably put a billet grill there anyway. Ive searched and searched and it seems the only info I find about cutting the grill are for FMIC installs. Id rather not get a longer air dam cuz I dont have much ground clearance as it is. Has anyone done this?

If you're overheating while cruising on the highway there's nothing you can do except put the air dam back on....thats whats its there for.

If you're overheating during stop-and-go traffic i nthe city, it has nothing to do with the air dam.

The air dam is still on. Its overheating while driving down the highway. The ground effects block flow to the air dam. Its a common problem with them. I was just wondering if cutting the grill out would help or make it worse.

cutting it out should help since it would allow more air... but screw the kit, I don't think they look all that great on these cars anyway and as you have found they can cause trouble too!

Well I like the kit. LOL But you are right, it causes problems. I didnt know if cutting out the grill would affect the direct flow of air from the air dam. I know it will affect it some, but I wasnt sure if it would enough to hinder cooling.

Put a manual fan switch on it and turn your fans on all the time.

Yeah, that air dam is really the only way for air to be circulated up to the radiator on f-bodies.
