Default Window Help. ASAP!!!!

So my window stopped rolling up and down and I tried to replace my window motor. I drilled out the rivets that hold the regulator up without thinking. Then when I went to put it back in with that little hook that hooks onto the door, the fiberglass ripped. Now I have nothing holding my regulator or window motor on and I dont know what to do. Can I drill out the rivets and just put some bolts on to hold it there? My window also fell, how hard is it to get it back on track?

Check out my thread. https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-maintenance-repairs/963512-window-motor-problems-fixed.html

That hook isnt really holding much. The screws you put in in place of the rivits is what holds the regulater(window assembly.

I used a grinder put it on a hand drill and took off the riviets. And used the bolts and screws that came with my window motor purchase from autozone.

Ok im trying to get it all back together. That spring fell off and Its a pain to get back on. Is it necessary? And I have a 6 to 8 inch piece of rail that a wheel goes in it looks like to me. It has two bolts coming out each end at a 90 degree angle in reference to the rail. Where does this go? And I am also confused as to where the roller goes that faces you if you are looking at the door standing between your car and the door as you would when replacing the motor. I need this done by tonight. Its going to rain :-/. Im really in a pickle....

How did you put the spring back in place without it falling? Did you wind it together then put it one or simpley just put on the sprign?

I left the spring off once it fell off and when i put it on without winding it fell off and i gave up trying to whind the spring to fit as it should.

In my adventure I did put a little tension on the spring and got it in. Some good ol grease will hold the spring in too and you should have it around for the rollers. The window regulator assembly acts like a pair of scissors. Take your time and don't rush if it rains put a bag or something over the window. If you rush you'll end up having to do it again and you'll have chewed up composite to deal with after that. Make sure you buy some stainless screws and some locktite to keep the screws in the door.

First you want to make sure that the wheels are in the rails. The wheels bend a bit so you have to straighten out the wheel and slid in the wheel in the rail. The bottom wheel to you left goes into the bottom rail on the left side going accross, not the rail on the left going up and down.

Once the rails are in -hopfully someone is holding the window as you will have to tell them to pull the wind up or down to get the wheel into the rail. You can do this by yourself but it is a big pain. Make sure to use a C-Clamp to hold the window if you're doing this yourself.

Once the wheels are in the rail. Make sure the window motor is not on the regularter assembly, you will install the window motor at the very end once you have the regulatur mounted back to the door.

So once the wheels are in the rail, pull the window up as much as you can and put the c-clamp to hold the window. Make sure you use a big c-clamp and make sure its holding the window, tigheten it to the door but not with much tightening force.

For the top left screw -where one of your rivit used to be, i had to use a cloths hanger. I opened the hanger and grabed the end of the hanger made a circle here is the hanger.

The tape is there to hold the bolt cause that screw i had to put the bolt in the inside of the door unlike the others. And i used the hanger with the tape to hold the bolt and slide it inside the door to hold the bolt and screw in the bolt to the screw.

Once you got the bolts in you're set and all is good. Just make sure while bolting up the screws on the regulater make sure the wheels on the bottom left side doesn't get out of the rail. Twice the wheel got out of the rail on me and i only noticed this after i had all the bolts/screws holding the regulater so make sure to pay attention to the wheels and that they stay in the rails.

After that then just check out shobox.com and see where you have to drill the holes to remove the rivits on the stock window motor and when i put the motor on i put some greese and held the window all the way up, make sure it is level when the window is up.

If you have question just ask. Or post pictures of how far along you are. After you get her down, you'll feel like a pro. I felt like crap after i found out that i removed the wrong rivits but its possable to fix the problem.

I used a small grinder attached to my drill to grind off the stock rivits and used a drill but be very, very carefull not to get to the door fiberglass when using a grinder or drill bit. Hope this helps!

Was there a big difference before and after you installed the spring?

apoxy works very well if you screwed holes up.. put tape on both side to make a little pocket like thing then fill it up.... let it dry for a few hours, grind it down smooth again and then drill through it.. you can use washers for extra caution but mine didnt need it.
