Default 2002 LE SS Using Oil

I have a 2002 SS LE Camaro with only 24000 miles on it that I bought a year ago with 11,000 on it. I've changed the oil with mobil 1 synth every 3000 miles. I was using 5w 30 and it would use about a quart every 3000. I just recently went to 0w 40 and it has been about 2000 miles and my low oil light came on yesterday! It was two quarts low. What could be causing this on a car with such low milage? Ive searched and read some of the other stuff on this site and found a few post about this but no one with such low milage. Any thoughts of what I should do? Thanks for the help....

Common problem on these. Should have been addressed while it was under warranty.
Only thing you can really do it get the engine apart and change the rings, break the glaze on the cylinders, etc.

You could take the Throttle Body off and see if theres a bunch of oil sitting in the intake, these engine have a problem with sucking oil through the PCV. Doubt thats the problem here though.

I'd just go back to using the other oil and see if the consumption decreases. Mine has always burned about 1 quart/3k miles. I just turned 27K on the clock.

Alright... I'll switch back and just deal with it I guess. Lol Does this ring problem you speak of hurt performance any? I guess the car didn't get driven enough by the previous owner for it to show up as a problem.
