I have an all original 69k mile 84 z28, and i pulled the ebrake (parked of course) and now its stuck engaged, i can move the handle up and down, but it has no tension, and the brake light on the dash wont go off. Is there a quick fix to this, like removing the center counsel and manual release it with pliers? Thanks!

Ya sounds like something happened to the cable under the console. Pull the center console off and have a look under there to see what has happened.
