brake lights not going off...

brake lights not going off... my 95 formula just started this.after i press the brake pedal the lights stay on until i remove the battery cable after a few minutes i can put it back on and they are off,is this the brake light switch on the pedal or should i look for another problem?????
Next time it happens pull the brake pedal towards the rear with your hand and see if it goes out. If that doesnt work....try playing eith the turn signal lever and see if it does anything.
