Default metalic "ting" sound from rear of the car?????????

I bought a 00 TA with a FloPro muffler and everytime you put it in gear or torque brake it you hear a quick metalic sounding "ting" "ting" from the back. I think that the muffler is hitting something on the chassis or maybe something is broken off inside the muffler>

Dude, I had the same thing happen with my new borla I bought this summer. I thought they might have left the hangers loose or something when they installed it, but it went away on its own. I don't know if it was because the muffler was new or whether the y-pipe was rattling on the support brace... I can tell that mine is fine now and it is a whole lot louder now than when I bought it a month ago!

Check your U joints. The exhaust would make a louder bang or rattle instead of a pinging noise. Mine does the same thing but never checked the U joints yet.

I had the same problem with mine... but before I even messed with the exhaust, I believe you'll find it to be the U-joints. I had mine replaced a couple of times under warrenty. Then they finally ended up replacing the driveshaft. They say that the aluminum driveshafts tend to make the noise more noticeable, than a normal driveshaft would. I've now got an '03 GMC (with an aluminum driveshaft) and it's making the same noise.

its the aluminum drive shaft. after awhile you get used to it. its pretty normal on auto cars. you could put on a steel one and it would go away.
