Default Question about K&N oil filter versus M1

I'm getting ready to do a header install so I'll be changing the oil and filter. I've been using the M1 filter, but thought about trying the K&N. Whats the word on these? Use the short filter 1007, long filter 2006, or stay with the tried and true M1?

I believe the K&N to be the better choice, simply because it flows more oil. In a high performance application you want uninteruppted oil flow, so you don't want a super low micron filter like the M1, but one geared towards maximum flow. And the K&N will still trap most of the particles above 18 microns anyways, so that's enough to prevent engine wear in these engines anyways.

Always go with the longest filter you can fit, so the HP2006 is perfect for the LS1.

Patman,
This thread reminds me of something I was wanting to ask a while back. Have you ever seen any flow info on the old UPF Delco filters (Delco Gold as I recall)? Back when they were (supposedly) going away I bought a dozen of UPF-58's since it seemed we all thought they were the cat's *** at the time.

Think these are as good as the K&N's?

I have seen some flow data on those filters which indicated they were not as restrictive as the M1s, but a lot more restrictive than K&Ns. Here is more info on that:
