Default Window motor Q install

Do the motors have set limits for how far they wined ( sp ) up and down. it seems mine wants to really roll down and clunk as it gets to the bottom and clunk as I start to roll it up.
I know there are limits to stop the window when it goes up but i don't think there are limits to stop it from going down.
So my Q is do you activate the motor while its off the gear on the window ( In your hand )to its full down cycle and then install it on the window gear?
Thanks

Install in the position it comes in. I don't think the motor has a stop though. It is current driven. As the motor slows down it will use too much current and a thermal breaker will stop it.

I'll just leave it. It runs smooth from top to bottom but it just has a clunk sound from bottom up. Things are tight rivets and all and no binding that I can see so I'll leave it till something breaks.

Sounds like it isn't adjusted right in the tracks. Does it leak? wind noise?

If you take the t top off does it look like it seals ok everywhere else? does it have a gap at the bottom?

Nope its good no leaks and it moves in the track perfectly. All I did was pop the new motor in, the window never budged from it holding spot.

The door frame really bows out in the up and down resting positions.

Normal to do that some but I can't say if you are experiencing an abnormal amount.

Pretty much all newer GM cars I have had do that.

that's normal and happens when the motor stresses the door when it hits the up/down positions. when the motor encounters this resistance, it has internal electrical circuitry that senses the resistance and shuts it off.

Oh and when you replace the motor and you use the small screws supplied don't put LOC TITE on them. If you have to replace the motor for any reason you'll never get the nuts off. Out comes the Dremel and in some spots it would be a bitch to cut them off. Double nut them.
You have been warned. I just when through this.

What happened to me in a car long ago is that the bolts came loose but the nuts didn't come off.

So the motor had some play in it and it mangled up the threads and made it harder to get off.

Ended up having to break the bolts off. Fortunately they were cheap china bolts.
