Default SLP Header install.

I just helped my buddy install a set of SLP headers on his Z28. What a pain in the ***. By far the most difficult headers I've installed on an LS1. No room around the starter at all. They loop around in crazy ways and even double back on themselves in spots. I know they wanted to make them equal length, but there's no way that looping them is better for flow than just having a shorter tube. I don't know if they've redesigned them as he bought these used, but I wouldn't recommend them at all over dynatech's or Kooks, etc.

This is what I have heard. They did redesign them, but still gonna go with ARH.

SLP is now advertising a new header design just in the past few months. The say they have better ground clearance. I have not seen a set personally, but the reason most people bark about SLP is ground clearance.

The car isn't on the ground yet, so I don't have any feedback there yet. However, the headers appear to be more of a mid length design than a long tube design, so I'm not sure why there would be ground clearance. Just a horrible design I guess.

my install was a lil tough, but not unbearable,,,and they come all the way down to where they curve to meet up with the cats,,no confusion with mid lengths, but maybe mine are different. As far as the clearance, im stock height (w no plans of lowering) and i havent scraped, hit, scratched nothing,,,speed bumps, weird driveways, etc,,,,,no hitting. Hopefully they will enjoy them, if not, the sun will still come up tomorrow.

I personally saw the car, and I would agree, no matter how much he paid for them, extra work is not fun.

I'll gladly spend the 1100.00 for my Dynatech kit, all I needed to remove was a Oil filter and oil plug, thats it.

only the filter removed for me, also had to unbolt the tranny cross member to wedge it over a tad to slide the passenger side up. that was it. Spark plugs were still in as well.
