Default Header Install Check List.

I've done a little searchin, but i haven't done a header install before and want to get a to get list before i do anything. I'll be putting on some pacesetter LT's/ory

Basically i just want to know all the mandatory parts. I'm debating on whether buying them new from texas speed (520 shipped) or just going with a used set.

If i were to purchase them new, would all i need be the 24'' o2 extensions? I would assume all the bolts/gaskets would come with the headers. Someone help point me in the right direction, and thanks for the time

From what i understand, the gaskets they might come with are junk and i should get some GM ones, best place to purchase these?

Beer and Pizza a must !.. but yea Pacesetter includes it all . but yea like Ehatcher said either stock GM gaskets or FEL-PRO's ..

While your in there , replace your plugs/wires . Its so simple

If you need any block off plates, buy them and gaskets for those..

Patience ! the outcome will be worth it

Go directly off of this. Except make beer mandatory, rather than optional

PM or contact SDPC. They have great prices, fast shipping, and prompt customer service. That's where I got mine from. "Scoggin Dickey" is a username on here.

We keep the gaskets here. You could also reuse your stockers in most applications. We have any parts you could need, even headers if you don't already have a source for those. I saw you mentioned TSP up there, if you plan to get the headers from them they can also get you anything else you would need.

You don't have to know what you need, just give them or us a call and we'll get you where you need to be

Having two jacks, a bunch of 4x4s (or anything beafy enough to keep the front end of the car up that high), and having two other friends to help out made the swap extremely easy.

Sounds awesome, i'll be in touch with you guys.

As far as the QTP headers, i want to keep it around 550 shipped or less, i don't want to shell out a fortune. I don't even know what those cost though.

Do a poly motor mount set swap out while you are doing the header install. This will save you a ton of *** pain down the road if your Y-pipe is banging. get the longer 02 extensions they aren't that much more and you can just zip tie the slack. I got all of my hardware (extensions, rear 02 sims, header gaskets,MSD wires, spark plugs) from www.speedinc.com they have everything and free shipping. Free shipping on headers also which saves alot of money good luck bro !

IMO skip the 02 sims, and have a shop tune out the rear 02 sensors. Extensions you can get away with a 12" and 24", although 2 24" seems to be the norm.

I was gonna say 100$ to keep a light off....i don't think so. So 2 24" runs of o2 extensions will do.

Yep, done it like that with every header install I've done. Even the ARHs I got they sent me two 24". You will have extra wiring to bundle up, nothing a few zip ties can't fix.

Awesome, i think i know everything i need now. It was mentioned above i could use the stock gaskets. I'd like to save money if possible, is it worth to spend the extra 40$ for new gaskets? I'm on a pretty tight budget

IMO I would. If I recall correctly it was ~30 or so for new ones from SDPC. I only figured, well, I'd hate to have everything back together only to find out one of the gaskets **** the bed, and have to pull it apart. That's just me though. I hear you on the budget thing though.

If you get pacesetters dont use their bolts. The ones I got were all too long! PITA

I reused the stock bolts. They all looked like they were in great shape. If you have any doubts about the stock gaskets, go ahead and buy some new ones. It will save you some grief. I still have my stock gaskets with my headers. I installed the headers at 79,000 miles and over 30,000 miles later I have zero problems.
