Random pink wire.... I am currently in the middle of my first spark plug and wire change. God help me.
However, that is not the problem. I just noticed a pink wire that had it's heat casing melted onto my AIR gasket. The wire came free pretty easily, but that is when i noticed it was REALLY loose. I pulled it up (pretty long wire) and it turns out to not be connected to anything. In fact, it looks like it was cut. I followed the other part and it seems to go into my fuel rail.
I attached some pictures. Anybody know what this wire is for? I am not experiecing any problems with the car, and God knows how long it has been like this.

That's odd. And spliced into the injector cables...
My guess is that a previous owner needed a tach-signal for something (nitrous?), and that's where he found it suitable to get it...

Looks like they had a remote start or other system installed the required some sort of RPM reference signal. With systems that only need a reference for what it should see at idle, actual RPM doesn't matter, so many people just use an injector wire instead or properly running it to the pcm.
