Default Question about MAF

A little help on this one....

Can I de-screen my stock MAF and not have to re-tune my on-board-puter or should I just buy an aftermarket one ??

At a local dyno day, we descreened several MAFs and they didnt see an AF change, but did gain 2-3 RWHP just from that.

Didn't GM remove the screen from the Z06?

So do I need to re-tune the puter or not ?? If I do need to re-tune, does anyone have an idea for a price ?? A new MAF will run about $150... de-screening mine will cost me $0 !!! Lookin' for as much free HP as I can get.

In a perfect world, the maf tables in the PCM would need to be changed, but for most people on here you would just ending up running a little differently (might help, might hurt) if you don't tune.

You can see what GM themselves did when they removed the maf screen in 2002...they changed the maf table accordingly. The tables are listed here:
