Default Ported TB leaking???

I put on a new ported TB a few weeks ago. Several days later (a couple times out on the street), I noticed a noise on startup. Best I can do to explain it is a slight whistle. You can hear it from inside the car. Could be compared to noisy belt even. When I popped the hood - it is tough to isolate the noise. It doesnt seem to be coming directly from the TB itself but I can hear it at the opening to the airbox (on SS). So I am figuring that the TB is leaking and the only place I would hear the air whisteling would be from the inside which can be heard from the airbox.

Had the noise been very noticable as soon as the new unit went on - my call would be easy but I am almost certain it didnt appear right away and want to make sure there isnt another cause before a replacement TB is sent to me.

Thanks,

Will

If the backside was "ported", it might have
exposed the edge of the intake manifold to the
air stream and made you a free dog whistle.
Check this out with a finger down the throat w/
blade open. If you can feel the ridge, you might
want to carefully chamfer the intake orifice to
mellow it out.

Will,
Probably best to swap TB's with someone and see if there is a difference.

I just installed a ported throttle body on my car this weekend and have that smae whistle sound. It sounds like it's coming from the front of the air box, where the K&N filter is. I was also thinking there might be a leak??

I'll check to see if there are any edges like you said Jimmyblue.....thanks

Alot of this depends upon who's throttle body you are running. There are some certain mods that can be done to correct this, and it's not the backside of the TB.

Noisy airflow is not good, usually the less noise it makes the better it's flowing.

As the vendor promised - they are sending me another unit ASAP at his cost. Hopefully this will eliminate the noise. Thanks for the info.
