Ordered my Cutout! price for welding?
Ordered my Cutout! price for welding? I just ordered a 3in Jegs cutout and it should be coming in Saturday, to you guys who had muffler shops weld it on, how much was it? I called a number of so-called "muffler" shops in my area and they weren't willing to touch it or they didn't seem to understand the terms "exhaust dump" or "cutout"... maybe it's my fault for not explaining it right, but it made me wanna stay away. The one shop I found near me said it'll be $50 to get it welded on; that seems a bit on the high side considering I've been reading about people getting their cutout fabricated on the spot and installed for the same price.
Depends on the area I guess. Everywhere I went it was $50. I paid $60 to my friend, since he hooks our car club up on work, and he is trying to get his fab shop some more reputation.

Ah this is depressing... but I guess I'll have to suck it up if I want it on there sooner than later. I'm also hearing about people getting them done at Meineke and/or Midas.. the ones around me say they don't.. wonder what's up with them.

Verdad Gallardo Could be because of noise controll in your area. If there is a restriction, having the cutout could be illegal. Or if your county is required to have mufflers, it would violate the law then, because you are bypassing it.
Could be... I do hear about a lot of people getting pulled over for "illegal exhaust modifications", but most of them are ricers with the usual obnoxious coffee cans.. but then again, I'm aware that my car isn't exactly the quietest, and that a cutout obviously makes it louder. I know that the cutout makes it scream at WOT, but how loud would it be at idle or just cruising?
