Vacuum leak?
Vacuum leak? Stock 6.0 LQ4 with less than 50k miles.
Right when I start it up I hear a whistle and then it goes away very quickly. Also, when I shut down the motor I can hear the same whistle, but as if it is bleeding off.
I dont hear it any other time. Ive double checked my vacuum hoses, etc. Pulled the intake and double checked the gaskets and they looked good to me, the rubber was still flexible. These are the original OEM gaskets. I took the TB off and cleaned it and the gasket...it looked good.
Ive eliminated the air intake/filter/piping as it still does it with that completely removed.
Im getting ready to throw a new gasket on it, but hate to throw $50 away if thats not the cause.

Is the engine running fine? Is it idleing good? The whistle could be the air pump for the cats. If you have a torch... map gas or propane, start the engine and just turn on the torch gas (dont light) wave the torch around the intake and throttle body and if the rpms rise you have a vac leak.
Engine runs pretty good, but has a strange part throttle laziness like it should have more power and sometimes just comes alive. WOT is great. I am getting a high idle DTC as well. It idles at about 800 which seems high for a stock motor. No AIR, cats, EGR or EVAP for that matter. All that junk has been removed.
I tried spraying starting fluid around the intake, but nothing. Ill try the propane gas, cant hurt. Thanks for the tip.
