Default Getting ready for a LSx swap, rebuild pricing?

I am hoping for a LS2 for a bolt in 400/400 but they are harder to find.

I am putting this into a 1998 240SX SE (S14).

It seems 2500-5000 buys a engine/trans/ecu/wiring setup. I can also get a T56 rebuild for $2400 and see LS1's going for $500-600 in 'blown' status.

I tried calling around but the machine shops wanted to see it first.

I probably should have just said I wanted a rebuild instead I would be bringing in a blown motor.

Also is there any machine work beneficial?

Thanks
Å
