Engine vs Vehicle - ID question (VIN)?

Hi,

Is there a VIN number anywhere on the engine (2002 Firebird)?
Or is there any other way to find out if the engine I'm buying is from the car that seller says it came out of? I have the VIN of the car.

They are not like the old days with matching numbers. I really don't think you will know. I did a engine swap but I had the dealer do it for me. If I didn't it would never show up in the GM Dealer Records. Hope that helps ya
