Exclamation Engine build questions.

Hey yall i was just curious what is the "safest" max stroke you can put on the LS1 for a daily driver, i am thinking of rebuilding my motor cause i am just having too many things fall apart and i am tired of fixing here and fixing there it never ends.

I am about to be deploying for 4 months and when i get back i am going to do kind of a budget rebuild on the bottom end of the motor(basically the rotating assembly) and i would like to stroke it a little but nothing so huge that it will want to tear itself apart. I dont want to boar any but i am going to hone the block of course(lightly) to get everything fresh.

Basically i need good parts for good prices pistons, crank, rods, bearings, balancer, oil pump and all that. What are yalls suggesstions of these parts?

I am not sure if i want to spend the money on getting a rotating assy. other than just buy the parts seperately but if i buy the full assy. then at least its already balanced but again it costs $$$$. I plan on running spray so the pistons i want forged but at most it will be 150 shot cause i dont want to blow my hood off and i think even that will throw it right off the car in the event of a nasty pop but oh well.

I want the motor to be able to hold twice what i will pull from it so i know it will be dependable for the most part. Sorry for this being so long but any suggesstions are appreciated. I have been looking around but i dont know where to start.

honestly...for the money and time that you would be spending rebuilduing and stroking your motor it is probably not worth it. There are plenty of sponsors that sell short blocks for the same amount you will spend buying everything individually for your motor.

i know its not the answer you were looking for but its just a thought to look into

I was going to go with a Lunati forged 383 kit, but for the cost it was about the same price for a ls2 403 from xtremehorsepower. Talk to marcus he'll set you up right. Everything is a swap from your ls1 with the exception on a new valley plate and front cover to accommodate the new location of the cam position sensor.

Well what you suggest was already on the back of my mind but again i am not looking to spend a couple of grand, its a budget build.

I know i can get a 6.0 Iron block for 200 something and i can boar and storke that a bit but i would still need to but internals cam and everything else. At least with the motor i have now i already have heads, cam, LT's, off road ory pipe, K&N FIPK. I dont know if i want to trade all the time and effort i have put and am going to put into this motor for something that will be stock and or not ready to put into the car yet.

I know i could gat most of my money back for the mods from selling this motor with my mods done but not enough to justify i dont think. I figured id only be able to get 800 or so for my motor i have now and that wont be nearly enough to finish the other one.

Do you have any links to these short blocks or are they in the sponsors list and which ones?

Throttlejunkie Which sponsor does marcus work for cvause i was thinking of an LS2 already if i wa going to swap motors and i like the fact of everything able to swap over.

* just noticed you said the name of the sponsor haha. Also i would love to have an LS6 but i dont know if that would be in budget for me haha(man it would be nice though) would there be alot of fabrication/mods to get it to fit and work right? Same with the LS2 will i need a new computer to make it work?
