I put spiral flows on my true duals thinking it would quiet it down a bit over the Bassani it had on it, with no luck. I think all it really did was change the tone a little.

Funny thing is, I ran a Y with a spiral flow on my circle track car and that thing was as quiet as could be. It must have been something to do with having a Y-pipe I guess.

Are you looking for bullets, or are you willing to go with an oval muffler as long as it's a little more quiet?

I thought about doing the Y with a spiral flow or borla xr1 dumped off it rather than the duals. They do seem quieter, but will it flow as well as the duals will?

To the OP you are going to have to go to something like the 1 chambers mentioned or magnaflow 4x9s to quiet it down instead of the bullet style muffler.

You should try running tailpipes and run bullets before the tips....

Get a magnaflow round case muffler, then run it out the back. Still good, ear pleasing tone without all the extra noise.

I have the 1-chamber flowmasters on my td setup, and its definately not quieter than what you have. It sets off car alarms, and people have told me that when I pull up, my car shakes stuff on their walls. Don't get me wrong, it sounds badass and I love the sound, but the interior noise will drive you nuts if you think the spiral flows are too loud. My friend ran the Magnaflow 4x9's w/ his td's and it was pretty tame.
Like ss1 mentioned, I also had a spiral flow on my old y pipe setup and it was pretty quiet, so I'm a little surprised they are too loud. Either way, stay away from other bullet style mufflers as they will be louder than the spiral flows.

I think the Y helps kill the noise, big time!

so if everyone agrees the Y kills the noise big time, does it also kill flow? or is it a good cheap alternative to dumped duals?

DITTO!

Keep the duals you have now, run them out the back with two more bullet-style mufflers right before the tips.

It should give you a very nice deep sound without any rasp. Plus interior sound will drop dramatically.

Just my .02 !

I'm not a big fan of spiral's either. They sound like pickup truck mufflers to me. I've always preferred the more finely tuned sound of the dynomax bullets.

No, I'll have to see if I have any friends with camera's to record something. On my old setup I changed from Dual cut outs in the Y-pipe to my TD's with spiral flows and I lost 0 hp and picked up 5 ftlb's

I love my true duals with spiral flows they give the car a real mean grunt. Maybe you should run them out the rear of the car. I have heard a car with them ran out the rear and sounded good, was real queit in the car too.
