Ok. I was also wondering what kind f power gains I would see. I know its not a lot but the reason I would do it because I keep thinking I want to put a cam in my car.

I broke my sending unit as well and it was 11 at night on a friday so couldn't get it till sunday because I ordered it on Sat. I would just get one as insurance and if you don't break it then fine. If your really are strapped for cash then don't get it unless you have to, just know it's a possibility. I'm 6'3'' 260 lbs. So my hands are big so it took a few hours and I'm not sure when my unit broke because I didn't hear any snap or anything. I just know it was a 10 year old brittle piece of plastic.

Don't try to rush it like the guys said. Just take your time. Your not going for any speed records. Next time a buddy wants to do the mod you'll be the expert. That's a really good tip using clothes pins to hold the bolts up.

When you take the brake booster hose off you should push from the driver side to the passenger side of the intake. I think that might be what breaks the sender when you go to pull the Intake off. Just be careful not to break the sender when you move the hose, lol. Good Luck!

Probly will notice a lil bit of a difference, nothing crazy. After a tune you might see more. If your doing the H/C swap then it will pay off for sure. Have FUN!

We broke the sending unit with the brake booster hose that runs behind the intake on a buddies '00 SS when putting the new intake on. Have an oil pressure sending unit located before starting, just in case. (Make sure they order the correct part too. GM dealerships can be quite the let down) A little longer hose solved that problem rather quickly.

The second time we took the intake back off, changed the sending unit and put the intake back on was less than an hour and a half.

The first time, 2 1/2 - 3 hours..?

Make sure you have the right tools before you start. Like fuel line disconnect, torque wrench. This is really easy, don't get in a rush either or you will break something (oil sending unit ) and don't over tighten anything. And just for your arms sake, take some side cutters and snip off the little black plastic clip ends under the cowl. they will chew your arm up like a rabbid cat. Good luck

Also get some small wire loom and cut it into 1 inch pieces. Use this to hold up the 5 bolts at the back of the intake. To make this swap easier, just pull the vaccum hpse out of the brake booster. Use the LS1howto site and you should have no problem. I have removed and replaced at least 30 intakes without breaking an OPSU. Hope this helps.

it says these are all i need:
tools needed: 8mm, 10mm, 15mm sockets, flathead screwdriver, pliers

we do have a couple different torque wrenches, but is the fuel line disconnect neccessary? any other tools neccessary or helpful?

You don't need to disconnect the fuel rails...just pull the injectors/rail out and lay them to the side out of the way.

I used my old LS1 coolant pipe on my LS6 intake. Everything bolted down and is tight. So i'm hoping I dont have any issues.
