Its an underdrive, I may grind the face of the bracket a little so I dont have to cut the bolt down so much.

I know it has been a while for this thread. I have a 25% underdrive now and was pondering the short belt bypass so dug this up to find the part number. In reading here I wonder if anyone had a gain. Seems a guy I saw at the track one time said yes. Instead of spending the $18.00 I was thinking just yank the A/C belt.... zero $$$ to do and see. Thoughts on this?

Not turning the A/C and bypassing the powersteering has to help just a little right? Might not be but 5 HP but still

Has anyone found a ribbed idler pulley to go on the alt bracket?

I have my advance auto girl working on it for me monday.

For the belt to bolt issue what about a 5 rib belt.

I have this on my ford motor with no issues

I have a 5.3 I'm putting in a fox body. Looking to go with a manual Rack. Currently Have a Truck water Pump ,and all other normal accesories. Can I get away with just going with the F body alternator bracket or do I need to change other stuff?

I know that the balancer needs to match the alt braket.

Not sure on the WP.

I am Just modded the bracket the other night for the belt to bolt clearance. As soon as I get the crank in the block I will have it mocked up to verify all the fitment.

If its not even 5 hp then why bother. Why not leave it alone and just enjoy racing your car? Just a thought.

Yea that was an old post. I just took off the A/C belt and left it as-is. Not worth the trouble!
