What about the Hooker AeroChamber muffler? That's another choice I could do also.

the hooker flows with the best of them and has a deep mellow tone that sounds badass at WOT

i had both.
flowmaster on stock internals and with a cutout.
magnaflow with stock internals and then now with LT's and ory pipe.

flowmaster is a little louder than the magnaflow but with the magnaflow i can feel the car respond better.

Magnaflow. I've heard both inside the car and outside and I think Magnaflow is a better sound. Are you looking for loudness or performance? Like everyone else has stated Flowmasters don't seem to flow as well. I personally think that Flowmasters get annoying after awhile.

Here is a dyno video by Jason Bridgewater (Lasombra52) where you can hear the Magnaflow system on my car. I've got SLP Lt's w/ no Cats also. My car is the third one (Black SS) on the dyno...

Theres going to be no difference from muffler alone. You are going to have to get at least a catback. The best bang for the buck is the texas speed 3" duals. There are 3 different mufflers to choose from. Its dumped before the axle but camaros look good without tips. Very many even prefer camaros without em.

If you are on a tighter budget I say get a jegs catback or lm2 or something.

I know you're looking for a 40 series, but if it matters I've got an 80 series and I can't wait to ditch it for a full-on Magnaflow catback. The Flowmaster drones on the highway which gets incredibly annoying. I will admit it sounds good though at lower speeds.

Ive got a custom 4" magnaflow system on my WS6 and a home built H pipe system with 4" round magnaflows on my C20 and both sound awesome. I have also been told by multiple tuners that flowmasters are restrictive and rob power.

I can't speak of the POWER flowmaster is gonna add. But I have flowmaster with LTs, ORY. It sounds soo sexy. I've heard everything there is out there. Exhaust is an opinion. I don't like it when exhausts pop or get raspy after you take the cats off and add LTs. Some might like that.

Either way. I just put a cutout on mine to get any power that the flowmaster leaves on the table. I put it as far back on the Y I could so that I still get some backpressure to maximize the power I get out. Seems to flow well. Don't use it that much because it's not electric.

BTW how about "flowdisaster"?

Mine turns heads wherever I go. Very little drone and kind of a unique tone.

It was kinda quiet stock but with mods in sig it's a different story. Absolutely screams WOT and kinda loud anything over 2.5k-3k

Does the cat back really cut that much power with the cut out open? I would think you might loose HP with the cutout being open no matter what cat back.

What type of proof do you have? Dynoed with flowmaster cutout closed. Dynoed flowmaster cutout open. Dynoed "x" with cutout closed. Dynoed with "x" open. All through same pipes and headers? All on same dyno?

I'm not saying it's not true, would just like to know more. I figured the cat back would have little affect with the cutout open.

Don't you usually loose power with the cutout open because not enough back pressure? So the restricted catback would raise the back pressure a bit..That was my thinking anyway. I don't have any sheets to proove my thought process.

Just a thought in theory...anybody?

You talking about the 80 series crossflow muffler? If so Im not surprised. Thats why the OP should go TD H pipe with flowmaster single chambers!
