All I can tell you is that I pipe was 2-3/4" stainless, welded into muffler (like all factory mufflers), and stainless tailpipes were also factory machine welded to muffler. Definitely not welded by a person. All I know is I bought it from 2nd owner, who hadn't touched exhaust, and she bought it from original owner when it had roughly 8K miles....In other words, it had NEVER been replaced before I bought the car. If it was a replacement muffler, it would be either clamped on (most likely), or welded by a person...mine was neither. Nor is it an SLP modded car. Here is another video that shows the factory tips a little better, although I had spray painted muffler flat black at this point...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eu1xNNhvZA

and this pic was taken the day I bought it.

I've yet to see ANY SS that has a Z28 exhaust on it. Every SS I have seen has either the identical setup to mine (factory SS) with two round rolled edged stainless tips, an SLP dual/dual setup, or an SLP center mount exhaust. Even the original 2000 sales brochures I got with the car advertise a "low restriction" exhaust as one of the differences over a Z28.

FWIW, with stock catback it was VERY QUIET with cats and stock exhaust manifolds.

Here's a 15,700 mile 2002 SS showing the exact same setup as mine had when I first got it (also smaller than 27" Z28 muffler):

I have the Borla XR1 muffler on my Loudmouth setup and I like it a lot. It killed all the rasp from the SLP resonator. The car has a deeper tone to it, but isn't open pipe loud as the Loudmouth.

Thats my point, your car is an SS, not a Z28. The original poster asking the question has a Z28. Your car is an SS, which is a different catback exhaust than a stock Z28. Can you post a picture of the drivers and passengers doors where the stickers are? Plus as you'rs is a 2000 and not an 01 or 02, I am pretty sure it WAS modified at SLP.

My bad. You didn't make any specific notations, or disclaimers, so I thought you were saying my catback was not stock...since that is, indeed, exactly what you said....3 times, lol:

From everything I have seen, my particular stock catback came on all NON-SLP modded SS'. Pretty sure SLP cars had either dual/dual or CME only.

Anyway, my car has no SLP stickers in the doorframes, and it never did, so I think that means conclusively that it is not an SLP modified car. Attached is the only sticker with anything even saying it's an SS (WU8 option).

Not sure what the big deal of your stock catback denials even were since I was just trying to give the original poster "an idea" what his may sound like...Not to mention< the OP asked for a video of a dual/dual catback, and I said:

My stock catback was actually louder than the dual/dual.
In a nutshell...My video shows my car with it's stock catback, just like I claimed, and you incorrectly disputed. Not sure why that's a problem...

There's no Y2Y on your sticker, so I guess it wasn't modified at SLP, I'm pretty sure Y2Y means additional SLP options...but I still say I wasn't incorrectly disputing...the original poster still has a Z28, not an SS, so his stock catback will still be different than yours.

LOL, damn man....we already all know that. He asked for video clip of dual/dual, and I gave him several to hear, including my stock setup to compare. That's all...I wasn't trying to mislead anyone.

But you were 100% incorrect.
My car is an SS. It is not an SLP modded SS. Video and picture showed my stock catback...which you said at least 3 times wasn't stock. Maybe you just misread my original post or something?

Then there's an exhaust option on a Z28 that your car has too. Here's a random stock 98 Z28 I found on google

Which is exactly the same as whats on my 2000 Z28. The muffler on that system is 27" long and very very quiet. The only picture I can find that shows mine is from the day it got hit so I don't want to post it, but it's the same as that car above.
