Default Did the 2002 Firehawks come with LS6 heads?

Just wondering....the LS1 modding book I bought says that 02 Vettes and "some lucky F-Bodies" came with the LS6 heads...in that case I just need the SLP Cam for their add 100hp package...and all the rest of the goodies.
Any knowledge is appreciated.

No. Some lucky Fbodies like the 2001-2002 ones got the "LS6 engine"...but that is very iffy being that all they basically got was the LS6 intake manifold, to my knowledge anyways. The camshaft is also alittle different in the 2001 2002 cars as well as the heads. Im positive all the 2001 2002 cars got the 241 casting heads which are decent units but are not exactly like the 243 Ls6 heads. The true LS6 heads were casting #243's which everyone looks for due to the lightweight sodium filled valves and nice flow characteristics they have from factory. Im pretty sure you have the #241 heads that all fbodies got in those years, with a LS6 intake. Thats it. Im sure someone with more experience will chime in maybe im wrong.

No. And they did NOT get the "LS6 engine" as post numb 2 implies.

Some cars got the LS6 block, but there is ZERO hp gains. Just some diff oil passages.

You can also setup your LS1 block to run just like the LS6. New LS6 valley cover, a little dremeling, run new coolant lines and your good to go. Suppose to help with oil in the intake.

The major differences with the LS6 block are down low by the mains where there's some area that allow air to flow between the mains to help avoid wierd oil control issues...the PCV difference is different too, but the common one that everyone raved about back with the LS6 was brand new was the stuff down low. The GMPP LSx block has a much different version of that with the bumps stucking out on the sides of the block to improve that breathing even more.
