Default Quick question

Im in the process of putting some hooker LTs on my 98 Z. Im having trouble getting the LTS up into the engine bay, theres just no room to maneuver them. My question is, when you put your LTs on, how high did you jack up you car? My bumper is about 3 feet off the ground right now and it still doesnt seem to be enough

I had to jack mine up pretty high to get the pacesetters to go in. I had a crappy small floor jack 19"max with a couple 2X4(yeah i know, i did have jack stands in use also) on top to make it work. so it was probably around 24" up at the center of the K member and close to 3' at the bumber.

I didn't remove the steering shaft either

Get it up higher..... if the collectors are hitting the ground before you can get them up in there, not high enough.

I had some older Pacesetters 5 years ago and I had to lift the block up a little.

yep, you just need to go higher, barrow a taller jack of something, its got to go.

I would never suggest someone else use blocks but it worked for me

EDIT: come to think about it I had the rear end up in the air on jack stands also that may have helped me some??

Dont you have a buddy with a lift, or someone that can let you use one? I installed mine at a Ford garage.

OK, so Ive notched the K member, hammered the body, and its still not wanting to go in on the drivers side. Its wedging between the steering shaft (which I cant really get off), a little block on the engine block, and the firewall.

Your talking about the square looking nobby looking thing on the block correct?

You can shave it down to get the right clearance or loosen up the big motor mount bolt and push the motor up and squeeze the header in.. I ended up doing both.

Well, undoing the motor mount wont just do it... You have to push that side of the motor up.

Did you jack the back of the car up as well?? I had some trouble with the driver's side with Edelbrock LT's but a little banging and manuevering and they went in... it did take me a minute though.... But do make sure your back end is jacked up as well... You shouldn't have to remove the steering knuckle, motor mounts, and everything like that... do you see exactly where it's hitting at??

Yikes.... You see how much the motor has to move to clear that stub on the block,, Mine only took a little tilt of the motor and it went in.. Are you sure you have the right headers?
