The foam- do whatever you want with it.
The TSB says to apply an rtv type sealant to the knock sensor plugs so water doesn't get down in them.
Not the wire plugs, the big rubber plugs that cap off the lifter valley.

In reference to the poll; I don't understand why anyone would not use both front & rear crossovers & then connect the two to a high point on the radiator or top radiator hose. Including the rear crossover adds more coolant circulation to the hottest most failure prone (2) pistons, 7 & 8.
