Default misfire in cylinder 1... Desperate

Heres the deal about a month ago i got a tune and a week after the tune i

got an occasional slight miss from cylinder 1 thought nothing of it really. But

then about a week ago that miss turned into a big deal giving me a flashing

ses light on the way home. so i turned it off and checked the code it didnt

tell me anything out of the ordinary besides fuel level sensor circuit. so i am

gonna hafta assume that they turned of the cylinder misfire codes. After i

checked and saw nothing that could help figure out the problem i started it

up and it was fine like there never was a problem. that continued for about a

week The problem being that at idle or part throttle it would miss in cylinder 1

but not at full throttle and only after running for a minute or so and if i turn

it off and then on again fine for a minute until something happens that

causes the miss. i checked the plug and wires there appeared to be arching

cause the plug had burn marks on it as did the wire so i replaced them and

later on the coil just trying to fix the problem. so i dont think its a spark issue

maybe leaking injector but i have no clue why it would only do it after

running for a bit. It doesnt do it every day either just when it feels like it i

drove 156 miles and no problem but then on my way to and from work it

crapped out so i dont think theres any reason for when it does it. If there is

anyone that can help i would appreciate it immensely. and sorry for the long

You could have a bad coil pack

good point. Here is what i would do.

take the coil pack of cyl #1, and put it on cyl #2 (jsut an example). If now cyl #2 is misfiring you now that he has a bad coil. But if the problem still remains at cyl #1, coil is fine

There are several reasons why you can have a misfire and low RPMs/idle. I use to have a 95 v6 slowstang and it was misfiring on cylinder 2. We checked every possible factor. It would only miss on idle. Truth is, the easiest way to find out is to take your head off. Mine ended up being a leaky head gasket. So I replaced the gasket and it ran fine. When you have higher rpms, your heads are firing more frequently, more pressure, no leaking problems. Another thing I read it could be would be a slightly bent rod. Turn the crank enough to get the piston to the top. if it doesn't reach all the way to the top, it's a bent rod causing it to misfire. In that case, you're boned. If all else, you could need an intake gasket or a manifold gasket.

ive asked thunder racing about this same problem shane told me of all his ls1 experience he has only had 1 coil pack go bad and if you have changed your plugs and wires and it still does it its most likly a bent push rod. the trays they are in are plastic and according to thunder racing wear out easily most likely a cheap fix just a bitch getting the head off due to a plastic tray on a high performance motor

If you aren't getting a misfire code how did you determine it to be number one?

If u can get it to miss at idle check intake runner gskt with wd40. if idle goes up it's leaking. also depending on mileage. a valve seat may be damaged. or a burnt valve from too short injector on time in the affected cyl. u can also check injector spray pattern to see if pentel is damaged or just clogged.
