Default ls6 heads---243 and the 241's

What is the difference in the 241 and the 243 heads? Both are suppose to be ls6 heads(they both have the triangle tool mark) I have a chance to buy either set and just need to know which ones are better for the money?

241 was never used on the LS6, just an updated LS1 head. The 243s were used on the Ls6 mill and will outflow the 241 heads.

243s also are found on the LS2 motors, different
valves / springs but same casting. So availability
has improved a lot.

Nothing special about the 241's, they just have smoother ports than the 853 heads. I just gave a set of 241's away because I couldn't sell them and get enough to cover shipping cost out of them.

-------- Matter of fact, they came off a ls2. Would there be any issues using them on a cammed 'ls1'? Im gathering part for the ls1 swap, figure i could do it cheaper putting parts together. Thanks again

Yep. I have a set on my pickup, and they gave it a MAJOR shot in the arm. That's the chamber in my sigline after I polished it.

GM started putting 243s on more engines lately, I've seen them on a stock 4.8L truck engine. Not sure if that is the exact same valves/springs as the 243s on the LS2 but I wouldn't doubt it.

Like stated above, the 241s never went on the LS6 and 243s always flow better.

yeah they're on 4.8,5.3 and I think 6.0 trucks. They even use them on the 5.3 Impala SS and Monte Carlo SS.

I knew it was quite a few of them so, yeah, they are definitely out there. 6.0 trucks should be 317 heads unless its an older model.

Yeah I was thinking they were the motor with the different heads. Just wasnt to sure on that. I see that the 317 heads are being used on alot of setups now, is there any reasoning behind this? I've seen a few FI cars with them, do they work better with FI since they have more CCs?
