I'll keep searching, but cats did not help me much.
The AIR system is used during warm up. It pumps air to the cats to burnoff excess fuel from running slightly rich during warmup

The overlap in aftermarket cams isn't helping the situation either.

I put cats on my setup. The fuel smell in the exhaust has decreased, but I have them dumped before the axle. So when i start up my car in the garage, the entire garage smells like exhaust, but during normall driving, there is no more gas smell in my car....Best decision I made. I lost some torque according to my most recent dyno, but that doesnt bother me. Its not a race car.

I tried putting cats on my car. All I got was the rotten egg smell at idle instead. Needless to say I no longer have cats.

Exactly what I was thinking, have you tried leaning it out a bit? What A/F ratio do you run at idle and cruize??

this is strange...my 428 69 bird with a 260/268 duration at .50 and 650 lift solid roller, 850 dp and 3in exhaust cut off at the rear axle has no gas smell..
i always thought the fuel injection being much more efficiant than a carb wouldnt do that
i'd think if the gas is being burnt properly then it wouldnt smell that way

I suspect some of you are having exhaust leaks at the cylinder heads and header flanges. That would dump exhaust right into the cabin.

I have the tsp catted y pipe and the only time I notice the raw fuel smell is when I let it warm up in the garage. Other then that I am happy with it and also my inspection station lets me slide on emmisions but I must have cats to pass.
