Default stock intakes

i was told that the 98-00 LS1's had a different intake than the 01-02's. that suposedly the 01-02's was the same as the Z06. can anyone confirm this.

98-00 had the LS1 intake and the 01-02 did get the LS6 intake which removed EGR and has more volume due to the lower floor section. z06 came with an LS6

so is that intake as good as the fast intake. would there be enough power difference for the money

No it is not as good as a FAST intake. If your not planning on getting too crazy not planning on doing heads and cam then an LS6 intake is fine. But if you want a cam set up or heads and cam set up then a FAST intake is the way to go. You can find LS6 intakes for sale pretty cheap in the "for sale section".

An LS6 would do you just fine.....EVEN if you decide to do heads and cam combo. You can port out the throttle opening to 85mm which would increase the flow capability of the intake and allow for a larger TB(obviously) to be utilized as well.
The Fast would be an okay investment( money no object) however, it is better suited to larger C.I. motor's and/or cars with extensive modifications thereby allowing full usage of the better flow characteristics (FI, Nitrous).
