header install update..
We were able to get the stock manifolds off with relative easy. We have the car on jackstands high off the ground. Then we go to insert the headers. . . i have the slp longtubes. Anyways, we spent a good hour or two and couldn't come near close to getting it in. Anyways does anyone have any tips to get it in?? We have tried coming from up underneath and it seems to hit the firewall or fender or something along those lines.

I didn't have slp's, but when it seemed that the driver side wasn't going to go in, I jacked the front of the car about 3 more inches and the header slid right in. I had read to get the car high, and I thought I was, but not quite.

i think the passenger side should go in really easy as long as you got the car off the round high enough. but i read somewhere that lifting up on the engine helps get you some clearance with the driver's side. wish i could remember where i read that, it was a really in depth thread on the header install.

i mean we have the car like...3 feet off the ground in the front. It maybe even up higher then that. Its pretty high. We dont have the rear lifted up tho. But i dnot see that mattering any.

When I had to go a little bit higher, I used a 6x6 block and put it on the jack and went 3 inches and for some reason, it allowed a different angle when starting the header. My whole car was lifted together the same. Shouldn't matter as long as you are up high.

if the collector doesnt hit the ground when its near vertical then the car is high enough, you will most likely need to loosen 2 motor mound bolts and jack up the engine a little... sounds hard but its not... grab a block of wood and your floor jack and youre golden

^^that's what kept me from getting mine in. but i didn't have anything to get it any higher, it was getting dark and i had to drive to work the next day so i spent the rest of the time putting my stock **** back on. i guess it worked out since i didn't have poly mounts at the time and my smog is coming up soon and would have to switch it back anyway. but as soon as that smog is done....woohoooooo!!!

When I was up top watching my boy try to shove the header up. I saw it hit on the steering shaft and the plugs. I pulled all the plugs out and turned the wheels. No go. Popped a beer and jacked the car just those 3 inches and I tryed and it went right in. Jacking it higher is easy. Let someone else try. It worked for me. Good luck

There may be a chunk of alluminun sticking out of the side of the block in the back that is stopping you. I had this issue and I know others have too. I just used a hack saw and cut it off. Also once it got close and still wouldn't go, I used my floor jace under the collector and (slowley) jacked the header into position making sure not to bend anything, I just needed more force than my arms could give from under the car. Sometimes you have to improvise whem you don't have a second pair of hands.
