Default LS2 VS LS6 intake manifold

Which one I should use?

My ride is a 02 Formula (yea, I've LS6 intake manifold). The mod is 5.3L ported head, 224R cam, full bolt-on and full exhaust. If I keep the LS6 intake, it'll goes with Shaner S3 ported stock TB. I'll buy a Nick Williams 90mm TB to go with the LS2 intake.

Keep the LS6 and do the Shaner TB. That combo should/would work out well for you.

Other than 90mm TB, there's another reason why I consider the LS2 setup. I bought a set of FAST 33# injector from a member here. However, I don't know they're for LS2 until I paid the seller in full. So other than resell the injector, I wanna figure out what other route I can go if I gonna use those injectors.

You can use the LS2 injectors. You just need an injector spacer that is available from Katech. They are also having a 20% off sale right now.

Here's the skinny. If your not goin to port the LS2 or have it ported then keep the LS6. If your goin the ported route then it's a viable option IMO. A correctly ported LS2 can compete within around 7rwhp/7tq of a unported out of the box Fast 90 at a fraction of the cost. Of coarse once you port the Fast it out performs the LS2.

For most people the LS6 is the best choice. But for others that want something different & a 90mm set-up without spending much more than it costs for a LS6 & 80mm TB, it's a option.

If you go LS2 you will need the LS2 injector adapter kit from Katech(part #: KAT-a4096) & you will also need the Katech MAP sensor extension since the MAP is on the front of the LS2. (part #: KAT-4751).

You cannot use your stock rails so you either need aftermarket rails or LS2 rails.

I emailed Katech and they said the LS2 injector CANNOT mount to LS1 intake manifold. I've to go for LS2 intake manifold and fuel rail in order to use those injectors. The only place that offer spacer for LS2 injector to LS1 intake is FICINJECTORS, which is $106 just for 8 spacer and 12 o-ring.

I'm kinda stuck in between and don't know which option is better. I don't have too much money to spend, otherwise I'll just go for FAST intake and the adaptor kit and call it a day.

I'll let you know later. If I go LS2 route, I'll need to pump out alot of money. I also need the LS2 fuel rail and send the intake for porting. LOL

if you look closely youll see that the LS1 injectors have those little plastic discs right in front of the o ring, if those are sanded down or taken off which it really doesnt matter than you can use the LS1 injectors because they wont fit down in the manifold with those discs like that, but if the injector is a little skinnier on the nose end it will fit in far enough.

Your confused & probably gonna confuse the OP.

He is not tryin to use a LS1 injector in the LS2 intake. If he was he would just have to swap the o-ring on the manifold end of the injector with Katechs kit & it would work just fine. The LS1 injectors are a little smaller. No modifying the stock LS1 injector is required or suggested either.

What is goin on here is he bought injectors which turn out to be LS2 injectors. The LS2 injectors will not fit the LS1 manifold, just like Katech informed him.

Thanx Mike for clarify things. I'm kinda confued with I read that post.

Now back to the topics, I dunno of any sponsor here sell PORTED LS2 intake manifold. So I've to find some porter which is no biggie. If I go to buy a low mileage used LS2 intake manifold with fuel rail, how much should I expect to pay? I wanna do some math b4 I decide on which route to go.

Also, I read from somewhere that it's not much help when you port a LS6 intake. Is it true?

So a ported LS2 will out perform a unport LS6 intake?

Now I'm worry about the 33# injector might not enough for this setup; 5.3L ported head, 224R, LS2 ported intake with NW 90mm TB, full bolt on.

Just keep the LS6 for what you have now, then go to an aftermarket later.

Yeah, but if he can get a LS2 intake and fuel rails for around $150 he'll save money over having to buy the rail adapters. There's an LS2 intake in the for sale section for really cheap right now. I'll PM you the link to it. Then, sell the LS6 for around $300 and that covers the cost of the 90mm throttle body. You'll still need the MAP sensor extension and the fuel rails, but those are both relatively cheap.

EDIT: For some odd reason I can't find it. If I do find it I will shoot you a PM.

33 lb / hour injectors should be good for roughly 422.4 crank horsepower at .50 bsfc and 80% duty cycle. They seem to be small.
