Here's a link to where Futral, who was trying to design a composite intake, found it was VERY expensive to get it done...

Colonel,
the significance of the intake being cool when the dyno was run doesn't tell me much. I've found someone that has done back to back to back dyno runs with the aluminum intake with no power loss between the runs.

This is a pretty signifcant finding. Because the intake was cool means it had the best probability of producing the most power because colder air is more oxygen dense = more power. As the manifold gets warmer the air is hotter thus less oxygen dense = less power. This is the best way to test this manifold is when it's cold because the gains will be maximum on a cold engine/manifold. Since the intake didn't prove any gain over an LS6 intake, when cold, it's surely not going to give any gains when it's hot. That's were the LS6 shines and why all the big dawgs run it. Even though the LS6 will increase it's structural temperature it won't increase so much as to significantly increase the air intake charge, pulling in hotter air, less oxygen = less HP.

If the Holley-Weiand intake worked really well we'd all be using them.

Fast is that Holley-Weiand intake was molded right off of an LS6 intake. It was meant for porting. When they first came out folks did not realize they had to swap the valley cover bolts. So the early H-W users had problems.

I talked to the head of FAST this week, and their intake includes excellent directions. I am excited, and that's all I am allowed to say at this time.

I've had the ls1, ls6 and holley. I picked up 4 rwhp going from the ls1 to the holley and then 0 from from the holley to the ls6.

i was looking at the holley one because isn't spray gonna cool it off anyway? i have an ls1 intake so the holley would help me out and when i'm at the track, i'll spray so it will freeze the intake and then it will have nice cold air.

just more food for thought

Why is it that we cannot get any information? Is it really that hard to dyno a car?
