Red face Heads and cam question

Okay, I've got to ask because I have a friend who said I'd need to change my stock LS1 heads for the cam I have sitting in my closet, I need to know if I have to swap heads or get mine ported.

The cam is a 236/242 .580/.590 on a 112LSA, he said I'd need to get a different set of heads or get mine ported, he said I need to get them to prevent the valve hitting the piston...

Any ideas?

Those specs are almost the same as the MS3, which clears stock heads

that has alot of duration, but not that much lift. you'll be perfectly fine with the stock heads.

you'll make more power with new heads, or ported....but you don't "need" them.

Well thank you, I didn't think I needed to get a set of heads or even get them ported. . That relieves me a lot.
Would it be recommended for some new heads/ports?

any head will make more power with that cam.

on a budget the TSP ls6 or 5.3 heads are hard to beat.

no budget you can't go wrong with TFS 215s or AFR 205s

that cam does resemble an MS3, so id have to lean towards something like PRC 5.3 liter heads.
