good question, and i hope someone chimes in. i took my egr valve off the other day to modify the tube going into the intake, put it back on and now im getting codes 0443 and 0449, which are both evap codes, but for some reason my mileage went down from 26 to 21, but only this week. when my headers come im deleting egr and air.

but yeah, any downsides to getting rid of it?

1. wont pass emissions test.

EVAP system codes may also inhibit your crank
relearn, but that will not show up until a PCM
swap or something else that makes it ask for
learning. I had this happen and the code was
"invisible" to my Predator and EFILive V6 scan
tool, just got the "crank variation not learned"
code. TechII found some tank sensor problem,
which a breached EVAP system will also give
you I bet.

Depending on how you break it, you could get
bypass air into the manifold through the purge
path, a decent sized vacuum leak. Have to cap
it off.

if you guys get rid of your evap you need a way to get the pressuer out of the fuel tank...

!!! if it is not vented or has no way of getting the pressue out of the tank, you will not be able to pump gas into your car because the door at the bottom of your filler neck to the tank with have pressure behind it to keep the door closed..

***i found that out when my evap line was kinked under the hood because i relocated it..

i dont know if you could use a vented gas cap or not ?
