Default Runs like a terd after header/y install

So I had the TSP Pacesetters /Pacesetter ORY installed in my 99 TA by my mechanic. It has the stock cat back (didn't want it too loud).
It sounds OK, (there is a weird vibration I'm not used to, sounds like something is loose), but runs like poo.
Off throttle it is OK, but put any gas on it and it seriously bogs down.
The Pacesetters do not have the EGR tube, and the mechanic said they would be running rich. He said he just didn't hook up the tube to the EGR, and that this causes it to run rich. He warned me about this before he installed the headers. I was expecting the car to be a hell of a lot faster, but it is much, much slower.
He said it will be better once I get it tuned.
Could it just be something with the O2s? Can I do something with the EGR?
Is he right?
And what can I do about this vibration?
Thanks.

your mechanic is right the tune will help alot... also shortly after my header/exhaust install my o2's took a crap and caused the car to really run like ****. bosch 13111 o2 sensors took care of that problem.

Is it throwing any codes? Or is it just being a terd? The reason I ask is when my o2's died they threw codes. But regardless of the o2's, get a tune.

Pull the plugs. My bet is all four in one of the banks are going to be black/sooty. This would tell you that a O2 sensor has gone bad on that side. Double check all your ignition connections as well. good luck.

Dude if you have the stock catback you will BARELY if at all notice any power gains. I have a cutout on mine so I open and close it with the stock catback for quietness when pulled over by cops or in neighborhood at night. On the dyno its almost a 25hp to the wheels difference with it closed and open. Literally if your using the stock catback you probably wont notice any gains in fact because the headers move torque up a little but, you might feel like its slower.
Also that vibration may be the Y pipe hitting the floorboards, go under and see how close it is to touching. I have egr on mine so im not sure if thats also causing a issue or not but your car will be running rich until a tune, I need to get mine tuned this summer when I have time and money.

after i installed my pacesetters no egr a couple years ago it felt like thier was no diffrent even a bit slower. so i changed out my plugs and changed my o2s to the ones that are on a vette. supposely with the longtubes the o2 are farther away and the exhuast gas is cooler. but after i did that it ran alot better. Also ditch the y pipe and get a tsp xpipe setup it is not overly loud until you get into the throttle.

Did he plug up the intake side of the EGR system? If he didn't, it's possible that you've got an insane vacuum leak through there too, which would make it go very very lean and really run like crap.

I had a problem with it dieing out at idle. So I unpluged the battery for 10 sec, then pluged it back up and started it and I let the computer relearn the engine and it works fine now. Try this, it might work.

I disagree that you will notice no gain throught the stock catback, I am still running my stock catback on the stock tune and while there is a big difference between having my cutout open and closed! There was still a definite gain over the manifolds even with the cutout closed! If it is throwing codes get them ran, and fix said problems. It will most likely be throwing a code for the EGR and AIR if they are both removed and for the rear o2's. A tune will help out a lot, at least a tune to get rid of the rear o2's and emissions. My car seemed to run a little better after tuning those out. I will get a full tune this summer, and it should run much much better.

When I installed my pacesetter I also did wires, plugs, and new o2's at the same time. Factory tune and it made a serious noticeable difference in performance It started and Idles fine. I agree with the o2's being trashed. Oh Btw bought the egr and airpump equipped headers and just plugged the egr tube up.

i had a vacuum leak after i installed my headers and it ran like a slug.

why not just take the rest of the EGR system off? if it's not hooked up anyway it's just extra weight.
