O2 Sensors: AFS97 GM P/N is 19178921

O2 Sensors: AFS97 GM P/N is 19178921
So I ordered 2 O2 sensors from my parts guys at the local dealership, and I received one with ACD P/N AFS97 and GM P/N 25312196, which seems to be correct. This sensor has the vertical "slits" on the heated end.
The second one has ACD AFS97, but GM P/N 19178921 and has "holes" where the slits are on the previous O2 sensor.
Can anyone explain what might be the difference and whether or not using the "odd" sensor will resilt in problems?
EDIT:After doing some research, it looks like the O2 sensor with the holes in it supercedes the old style with the slits, but this is just "google" research.
Does anyone think that the two different style of "holes" and "slits" will affect exhaust readings/performance/mileage?

Now my question is these are the same afs 97 part number and same application but the 25312196 has the slits in the heater end and has a better metal casing on it compared to the 19178321.The afs-97 GM# 19178921 has the holes in he heated end and does not have the better casing. I was told by many that I will not throw codes .I want to hear from my brotheren on this question. Thanks in advance!

Getting check engine Code is P0410B on an 02 trans am
I replaced the solenoid relay switch and the 2 valves, we know the pump is good so know the gm mechanics computer is telling us that the O2 sensor is the problem. Was that your experience??
