Default Help me quiet down my exhaust

First off I did try to search it, but I just can't find good info. Hey guys I am running a set of QTP longtubes with an ORY pipe with a flowmaster merger and a Borla XR1 muffler turned right before the rear end. The sound is starting to get to me lol and I am wanting to quiet it down without sacrificing much power. I am not really a fan of cat-backs and really would like to keep a dumped exhaust for looks reasons. I am wanting to go towards the "sleeper" sound, but I just do not want to sacrifice a lot of power. What are my options? Oh yeah it is just a bolt on car.

,Chase

only thing i can think of would be to run a 2nd muffler.

try it like i did with my setup a few years ago. painted everything flat black and it blended in well. couldn't tell there was a muffler there from behind the car, unless you layed down.

you can get the pipes from summit...dynomax sells just the tubing for over the axle.

Cut the XR1 off and use a Magnaflow 5" round case 3" in/out muffler. It has more packing but is straight through. It will tuck up well if you clearance the under body a tad which Im sure you probably did with the XR1 muffler. I believe they are 16" long or so. I've ran 2 of them on duals before and are exceptionally quiet at cruise and offer a nice deep roar when you step down on the go fast peddle.

Put back on your cats. Your car won't be as loud, but will sound a lot cleaner with little to no rasp.

not so easy to just "put the cats back on" when you have LTs

a different muffler could easily change the level to a more acceptable level.

i agree with Rapin'Ya, but I would use the 3"in/3"out 5"x8"x18" oval magnaflow. nice quiet rumble at idle and sounds great WOT

I like this a lot. Did you have anothere muffler or just the one pictured? Do you think I would have much power loss on a stock cube car by putting an additional muffler like this on? Do you have any other pictures of the rear? Thanks

i have a bullet right behind the ypipe. then this 24" bullet under the trunk.

since they are flow thru mufflers there should be almost NO power loss, at least none noticable.

that's about the only picture i have

ran this on my cammed engine, and it sounded good. throaty at idle, minimal rasp and screamed WOT.

yes mandrel bent....got it from Summit. its made by dynomax and has the hanger already welded on.

first 2 items on the list. you may need the front pipe as well, since it starts the upward bend over the axle. or a decent machine shop could do it with some pre-bent tubing.
