catback vs muffler swap

Default catback vs muffler swap

Please help me... I have a 2001 WS6 with long tubes and a ORY. It is attached to my stock catback. I want a better sound and less restriction. What is the difference if I replace just the muffler with a magnaflow muffler vs buying a complete catback. Oppinions please!!!

not really a difference if you get the same magnaflow muffler. Magnaflow is a great choice by the way!

Catback gives you 3" in, dual 2.5" out. Using a muffler with your stock pipe is 2.75/2.25" in/out. So a little better flow with the catback.

BTW, Hooker makes both the catback size muffler and the stock replacement. Thunder Racing carries both. I have catback size muffler only on my T/A with fabricated 2.5" tailpipes.

2.75" compared to 3" is a 16% increase in diameter....so pretty considerable amount of flow.

i say go for the catback

Or you could just re pipe from the Y. Probably cheaper...

Keep the stock catback and add an electric cutout. Best of both worlds, and cheaper. Replace the Y with 3" pipe all the way to the cutout when you have it welded, then stock pipe behind it.

I had a 01 ws6 catback w/ a high flowing dynomax superturbo muffler...I swapped it for a LM1 and felt and instant sotp gain along w/ a great sound
