Spark Plug Choices
I was curious about other options; my car currently has platiumn plugs in it (BOSCH) and i heard the TR55's are copper; isn't platiumn better? What about the irdiumn plugs?
My ignition is stock with the execption of MSD wires; i just want the strongest spark possible, but i don't want to spend $12 a plug if it will make zero difference.

Get either one of those and gap them to .050 and you'll be all set.
Spark plugs are one of those things that people just put too much thought into, especially with stock engines all the way up to 750 hp engines. There just isn't that much to them. You can spend $100 per plug and you will see zero difference in performance. Those so-called exotic plugs are complete bullshit. They are out there because there's a certain amount of years they will be able to screw the public with good marketing and make a ton of money selling them.
It just suprises me that a $2 plug seems to be what ppl use and get great results from. Is there any reason to go with another plug or is the whole platnium/iridumn thing just a marketing scheme?
Iridiums do absolutely NOTHING. Ricers and people who are just automotive idiots buy them. The word "iridium" just soubds cool.
Yes, TR55 or TR5 and gap them to .050. And don't let some cheese dick at the auto parts store talk you into using TR6's.

Yup, I'm running 490 RWHP on my 427ci. They are perfect.
Just keep askinmg your questions here and you'll be good to go.
Factory GM spark plug wires are all you need, and stock coil packs are good to way over 600 hp. $36.00 Advance Auto Parts spark plug wires are also just as good as factory GM spark plug wires.
Only way to get a stronger spark is to get a system that makes a stronger spark, coil packs don't make stronger sparks, they just carry whatever spark is given to them.
the above link is from NGK's website. They have the TR5's listed, but they also have a TR5GP. What is the deal with that one? Is that a better version of the TR5? Also, they're pre-gaped @ .040; do i still re-gap them @ .050?
The TR5 (V-power) is $1.99 per plug; the TR5GP (G-Power) is $3.59 per plug.
Like i said, the "G-Power" (TR5GP) is supposed to be a high-er performing TR5.

*The TR5\TR55 is the V-Power plug*

You want the V-Power plugs. Those GP's will do absolutely nothing by way of better performance.
Plugs are plugs. 100 years of design experience and they're still the same. These "so-called" special plugs are just marketing. They're trying to make money because as I said, plugs are plugs. They're trying to reinvent the wheel by telling people these new plugs are magical.
Gap them to .052 if you want to.
), i'd probably ask my tuner what plugs he recomemends. I can't see spending $10 a plug unless I'm told to for a specific reason. if the TR5's are good for you, then they will be fine for my stock internal, stock tuned, stock cubed/inducted LS1. so what about re-gapping the factory gapped plugs to .050; what is the point of that?
