I'm using the 3" to 4" flowmaster merge welded to a 4" QTP cutout then reduced back to 3" and my ground clearance is the same as when I had a TSP y-pipe. I run a Spohn tunnel mounted T/A and my car is pretty low too and I haven't had any probs.

I received my 3" In & 3" Out Exhaust Y from Summit yesterday and just got to check it out. It's definitely Aluminized, not stainless as the website says. There are a couple of spots where the the welds need to be fixed. You can see light thru and we can't have that. Shouldn't be to difficult to fix though, so I still plan to use it. $26.95 + 9.95 = 36.90 for a Total. Still cheaper than the Flowmaster Merge, so I guess I'm happy with it thus far.

I'm gonna try to add this to my Jet Hot Y with Removable Cats. I have yet to install it and the headers, so I'm gonna try to modify the Y during the install. I believe as long as I don't change where the entrances and the exit of the Y are it should fit the same as if it weren't modified. I've never done this before, so I'm really hoping I don't destroy a $400.00 Y-pipe in the process. Wish me luck.

All the farther I've gotten is to compare the Magnaflow Merge to the merge on the Jet Hot Y-Pipe. I've been working on getting the transmission back in the GF's Mustang. And thats finally been completed as of today.

I don't think its worth hacking up the Jet Hot piece to integrate the Merge. The pieces can't really be made to matchup simply by cutting and splicing. What will probably happen is, I'll use the cats from the Jet Hot Y and have a custom Y built off the Merge to the headers. I haven't decided on whether or not I'll go ahead and install the Y as is and then take it to an exhaust shop later. Doing it this way, I could document the sound prior to adding the merge, as well as the SOTP feel and do the same once it has been installed. Or I could just install the headers (and ect.) and then trailer the car to a shop without the Y. I'd kinda like it to match the coated headers so both would have the same protective coating, but I don't wanna have the custom piece built and then have to ship it off to be coated. (It took long enough to get this Y from Jet Hot.) I've been playing with the idea of getting some 3" stainless steel pipe to have the shop construct my Y from. At least the stainless wouldn't rust and it would match the LM Catback that is presently on the car.

Sorry about the novel, but thats the story thus far. I'll try to keep it updated as the project progresses.

What Torque Arm are you running? I have the chassis mounted Spohn T/A-Underbody Brace combo. Just curious how well the 4" Exit of the merge would fit with my setup.
