Default Best way to clean O2 sensors

I just took my 02's out to look at them and they have a little carbon on them, what is the best thing to clean them with? Im just worried if i use brake cleaner it might mess with the sensor reading the wrong stuff when I put them back in

Not sure why you want to clean them.. you don't need to clean o2 sensors, only replace when they go bad. Brake cleaner is horrible for o2 sensors.

Cleaning the carbon off won't do anything at all, I used to do it cuz it seems right but in reality it doesn't, the outside is just a casing with holes or slits in it, the exhaust goes through the passages and the amount of oxygen is read.....as long as the holes, slits or whatever it has is open and not clogged then that's all you can really do.

I have read many articles on this..ALL of them say..DO NOT CLEAN. Everything leaves a residue which is bad.

NO!!! You can heat them up with a torch; I've revived a few widebands like that from fat-running cars but do NOT dunk a hot sensor in water. The sensor element is glass (glass like) and could easily crack like that.

How can you check to see if the glass is cracked?

The reason I ask is because I had some water sucked through the engine and now it idles at 1500-2000. My rears are deleted and the code is removed. I'd really like to check them some way because I don't have any money to waste.

Thanks.
