Clean YOUR FAST intakes!!!
i take it apart and holly hell!! i didnt realize how dirty it was, it was drenched in oil and dried oil.
so i proceeded to clean the top and bottom out w/ a brillow pad. afterwards, i headed down to Race Proven Motorsports to have them port it while its off...
so moral of story, i recommend cleaning it once a year, if you have a catch can, id still go in to double check....
next on the list when i put my TFS's on will be a catch can.
i think it could have been robbing me a few ponies, but who knows. when it goes on i should be picking up some lost ponies plus a few extra w/ the port job

ps i didnt get any pics, but i was thinking about it while cleaning lol

Ugh... I went to a breather. I got tired of trying catch cans even though I never bought a nicer one. The intake bolts scare me, and taking them on/off a whole lot wasnt very appealing. Now its bone try at least.

It turned out to be a combination of fouled plugs and leaky intake gaskets.
Heres what #7 and #8 plugs looked like, the rest looked great, and all were about 1 year old NKG TR55s.

We replaced the intake gaskets, heres what the ports looked like.

We cleaned the inside and outside of the LS6 intake at my works parts washer, squeaky clean!
I came to the conclusion that the cause of this was, 1: it didnt have a catch can, but we installed one recently.
And 2: The car ran great for several months after we did a cam, LTs, new plugs, etc. Then we moved to new apartment complex where the parking lot is at a steep angle. I figured that was causing the oil in the intake to collect at the rear of the manifold at get sucked into #7 and #8. The car only developed the missfire/hesitation a couple months after we moved here.
So Ill be keeping a close eye on the catch can and rear plugs in the coming weeks.
I can actually do all 8 plugs on the other car (LT1) in 45 mins.
On a side note, I don't think this would be a good idea if the top piece is painted.
