Unhappy Please HELP!!! Which exhaust to choose?

I Just picked up my first LS1 car after selling my 94 TA, which was running a borla exhaust. I'm not sure if I want to go with borla again, it is becoming a pretty common exhaust on LS1's and i want my car to sound different. Has anyone ever heard an LS1 with a Spintech exhaust system? Or, which exhaust should i put on my TA?

I have loudmouth and love it. Most off the catbacks will give about the same hp gains, so choose the one that sounds the best to you. Some good ones are borla, corsa, magnaflow, SLP dual/dual, 2OTL, loudmouth, GMMG, etc. The GMMG is probably the best sounding one, and a lot of people do the dynomouth/borlamouth, which is basically a muffler in the place of the resonator. Oh yeah, welcome to the brand new spiffy board!

I also have a LM, IMO it sounds great, I love the sound it sounds almost evil, and also it want cost you an arm and a leg. I think it is 349.99 from SLP and most of our sponsors have em. Also I think corsa sounds good but its really expensive. Hooker is another good sounding/preforming catback, but my vote goes to the loudmouth. Good luck man

I would go loudmouth with a dynomax bullet in place of the resonator. If you plan on doing headers later I wouldnt recommend it, it will be to loud. I like my new hooker system a lot though

I have the "Borlamouth" like camarols1 had mentioned. I like it, and I get alot of compliments, even from the 5.0 guys! lol

I used to run a LM system, I loved it. It would be too loud with headers IMO, and I love it loud. If you do go for it, definitely go with the dynomouth/borlamouth conversion, will get rid of the rasp you may run into. GMMG is by far in my opinion the nicest exhaust system out there, but you definitely pay for what you get. It runs close to $800 just for the catback system, but personally thats what will find its way onto my next ls1. With gutted cats and headers it should turn everyone's head with a block of the car

Question which exhaust?

If all goes well I am buying a 2002 z28 and will own it within a week or two. Just waiting for the seller to get his title from his lender. Anyway it has some mods one of which is a cat back. I'm curious to know about the exhaust he put on it so maybe one of you guys can tell me what brand it probably is and their website. he says it's a stainless steel cat-back chambered exhaust. I could see what looked like cylindrical mufflers going side to side across the very rear of the car and they did look like stainless.

Shooter if you have two chambered cylinders running across the back end of your car, you have a GMMG catback. Lucky SOB, I love that setup.

Thumbs up exhaust

Cool, that looks like them. I found the gmmg website, good to see he wasn't bs'ing me about the cost for it. He didn't spring for the oval tips I don't think but no big deal. Thanks cyphur

If it is a GMMG you will already have one of the best sounding cat-backs there is! Keep it!

Exclamation fyi, not my thread

Just to clarify, I am not the one that started this thread, I just figured the topic was already exhaust so I'd ask the question. I think the original starter of the thread is still looking to replace his stock exhaust. Glad to hear the one my car is coming with is the one to have though!

Oops, I wasn't paying attention to the posting names I guess I would advise the original poster to listen to as much as possible before decideing. I would rule out the expensive systems (Corsa, GMMG, B&B, etc) b/c I just can't see spending that much on a cat-back there are plenty of cheaper ones that sound good. I had the Loudmouth for 18 months before I got headers and loved the way that it sounded

The advantages and disadvantages of the various exhaust systems have been discussed endlessly in the past at this and other sites. Please use the "search" function, which will result in huge amounts of info on this and similar questions.

Thanks guys, I just ordered the Loudmouth and Y-pipe today. I was wondering about the "dynomouth"? Will this make the exhaust even louder, or what will it do to the exhaust note? I imagine the "dynomouth" is using a dynomax race bullet muffler in place of the resonator, right?

Dynomouth is when someone gets a Loudmouth, realizes its too loud for them, and replaces the resonator with a Dynomax bullet muffler. So you were correct.

I think the bullet is about ~36 bucks or something, and it will kill some of the resonance and tone it down some, but it will still be a fairly aggressive tone.
