Default Band clamp issue...

I got around to installing my LPP Y-pipe tonight and the fitment is great. However, the band clamps that they supplied are fitting in a very awkward way. Because of the HVMC the front of the band clamp has a gap between the collector and the clamp. The rear of the clamp that is on the Y-pipe is fine.

Suggestions on what to do??

That's retarded. Why would they supply you that stuff w/ a gap like that. I'd replace it w/ V band style clamp.

Well, I think it's because of the HVMC. It necks down and the band clamp cannot make up for it.

True, however you would think they know this already and fix that problem. If it holds pressure I guess they wouldn't see it as a problem.

Yeah. I am hoping there are no leaks...

We'll see I guess. I'm not sure what other options that I have though.

alot of times you need to overtighten the clamp one side more than the other...at least on the flat clamps....they assume the perfect shape....don't be afraid to keep tightening that bitch down some more. I run a muffler shop and have had this exact problem before, and had much greater succes with the flat, non-preformed clamps!

I've tried that kind of clamp many times, but never seemed to get them to work. This time around I went with Dura-Seal clamps (Google it), and slotted the pipe. Definitely sealed MUCH better than those pre-formed, thin stainless bands.

It was a preformed band. So that step that you're seeing was already there... And it's pretty damn tight. I'm afraid of bending the collector if I go any tighter.
