Default Thinking of getting a set of ARH's

Like the title says. Will be putting on an LS6 intake as well and was planning to remove the EGR and AIR systems. Got a quote on race headers and the catted y-pipe and the headers alone are as much as a emissions headers and y-pipe set together. Thought about getting a set of the emissions headers and y-pipe set then just putting block off plates on the ports. Was told "I wouldnt want to do that tho." I have heard of people using block off plates before. Just want to know if I can save myself the $600 bucks and go that route or do I "need" the race headers to do what I want?

Have heard the same....I just wound up getting the race headers and being done with it. Didn't want crap sticking up and pointing every way when it wasn't being used.

You'll love the ARH!!! I know I love mine...

i got the non "race" headers and wish i would have gotten the "race" headers. its a big pain to have the egr and air things in the way when you are trying to install them on the car. especially on the passenger side.

I just ordered a set of ARH off road w/catted y pipe. I don't think the ARH off road headers are any more expensive than the ARH emission headers.

i deleted air and egr, i went with LPP,lpparts.com, look em up before you make your decision of spending an arm and a leg on a pair of headers.im sorry but 1400 for headers and y pipe is just insane.

i got lpp lts, xpipe, sweet thunder mufflers, msd wires, ngk plugs, and the other necessities for a header install and installed them myself all for about $800. thats including shipping.

LPP doesn't sell a catted-y though, which always ruins it for me.

The reason you shouldn't use block off's is because its a temporary fix. The AIR and EGR tubes end up snaping off at the base typically after awhile, happens on anything from pacesetters to kooks.

I would def check out LPP. The headers are all stainless and literally on-par in quality with ARH. If your deleting AIR and EGR why do you want a catted Y-pipe?

I was commenting in general - I for one have to have AIR intact (visual inspection).

I just got ARH's with no air/egr and a catted y-pipe. I did it that way because its easier to pass inspection with no air/egr as long as they are tuned out, and it helps clean up the engine bay, plus I have an ls6 intake manifold that can't use egr and the exhaust won't smell like rotten eggs.

It's a big pain in the *** to pass inspection in NY with no cats if you don't know someone who owns a shop or something.

Pretty much why I want to stay with the catted y-pipe. Dont have to worry about inspection but I dont want it to smell.

Are LPP's stainless? I would like to stay with stainless headers because the GMMG is stainless, so I would have all stainless exauhst.

yes they are stainless headers and have the updated merge collector. mine required no modifications, and took about 2 hours to slide in a torque up.

ARH is top notch quality. Depending on what you're looking for....I guess either would work.

Are you on a budget build??

I just got ARHs installed last week and picked up the car today.

Sounds completely different, quite a bit louder and picked up a little rasp too. But the car feels strong! Great fit and quality, I dont regret going with them at all.

Ok firstly I'm an idiot and cant read or something. The prices for the headers are the same I just cant work the website aparently. lol The caption said headers and y but when you click on it the price of the y is added on. So my appologies on that.

As far as being a budget build. Not really. Just want to not spend anymore than I have to.

Are LPP the people that took forever to re-make their headers? lol

LPP headers are nice and are stainless but I don't think they have a catted y out yet. The TSP one might work but it would probably be a huge pain in the *** to get it to work and it isn't stainless.

If you plan on getting rid of the air/egr just get the race system. with blockoff plates the unsupported connections fatigue and crack.
