Default SLP dual/dual questions

Ive got a 99 firehawk with SLP dual/dual exhaust. It sounds pretty good but not loud and mean enough. This is what i want to know, can i just purchase a single muffler and have it welded in place keeping everything else the same to get a nice deep growl? Lets say i bought a Magnaflow race muffler (something i saw on their website) or another brand, would i get a louder growl if i just had it put in place of the SLP muffler? Hope i make sense.

p.s. if this is possible what single muffler brands would be suggested for a mean sound?

I have the dual dual as well, and agree that it is fairly quiet. I just put a cutout in the I-pipe and have been very happy with it. But, to answer your question, yes, you can have an after market muffler welded in (obviously be sure to order one with the proper inlet/outlet pipe sizes). It is already a nice system with 3" pipe and stainless constuction, so no need to toss the wole system.

I have FLP Longtube headers with ORP's running the dual-dual and I think its the best sounding setup for an LS1, no rasp or drone at all....its awesome...

I have a cutout too, so when I want to get really loud I just open that up...

I don't know I like the dynomax ultraflow its a straight threw design and they have a 3in dual 2.5 out that fits perfect. Rumbles a little on idle and ROARS on WOT! JMHO

Does it sound better than a flowmaster on an LS1? Hope so.

Ok this is what i found on summit racing.com, someone please tell me if this is the right muffler before i order it. I pasted this description from the site below.

Ultra Flo, 3 in. center inlet/2 1/2 in. dual outlets, aluminized steel, fully welded muffler

And this will work with the dual/dual if i cut out that muffler right??
