Budget Build Exhaust I have a bone stock 2000 T/A A4. Well, SLP lid, but regardless.
I got a few JEGS catalogs in the bathroom and I began to think.
Is it possible to make a DIY bolt-on cat-back?
Looking at the SLP LM, the TSP Rumbler, doesn't look like too many bends, or atleast crazy ones. Could I do it? Has anyone done it?
Does the Hooker muffler replace the stock muffler? Is it going to sound as good as the entire cat-back?
I know I'm going cheap here, but anything beats stock at this point.
SLP sounds too loud and raspy for the price, and the TSP seems like a good option. But can you DIY for cheaper?
Header and Y-pipe wise, can you just wrap the Pacesetter LTs non-coated and have similar results, or is it just worth it to get the coated ones?
Someone help me out. I do about 90% thinking and saving money and 10% buying and installing parts. Don't want to make costly mistakes as some other people have.

After much thinking and some planning, I think I got a list of parts for a budget build exhaust.
Walker Intermediate Pipe from summit (the long, straight one) $47.00
Walker Intermediate Pipe from summit (the one with bends) $58.50
Hooker Aero Chamber Muffler $85
3" to 3", 3-bolt collector reducer $15-30 (to bolt muffler to intermediate pipe)
2 Universal 90degree bend tailpipes $70
Tips from who knows where at what price
Total (minus tips) $275.50-$290
Could I cut and re-use my stock tail-pipes? Yeah, it'll look ghetto under-neath, but my car has 57K miles on it, and NO RUST!

You realize you can get the TSP rumbler for the same price or less than this will end up costing you right? It looks almost exactly like what you are trying to make.

I did some more thinkin, and yes the TSP is about the same.
As Black Sunshine said, just cut and paste. I think I'll go that way with the Hooker muffler. Same thing as the Hooker cat-back, right?
Is the stock I-pipe 3", and the tail-pipes 2.5"?
