Default Safe to Remove EGR System?

I have a 98 SS. I just installed a LS6 intake on the motor and I DO NOT HAVE A TUNE. Just the stock tune. Will my engine be perfectly fine without the EGR system? I just need to know this, I already know about the SES light. Thats not a big deal.

Thanks

No biggie.. when you do get a tune just get the codes deleted and you'll be SES light free.

the only negative thing to removing egr is getting to see the annoying ses light on the dash until you get it removed.

Have any of you experienced a mpg loss by deleting the EGR? I believe that's what it is designed to accomplish. By recirculating unspent fuel/air into the intake to give it a second chance to be burned. Thats GM's thinking with the whole EGR system right?

from what i understand its only purpose is to lower emissions, in 01-02 it wasnt necessary as the cam was slightly smaller and emissions requirements could be met without it. i have deleted air and egr and have experienced no mpg loss with all the mods in sig. it stayed pretty much the same, i am hoping it picks up some after the tune though.

I deleted mine when I had my LS6 manifold installed. I also installed solid motor mounts. The total weight of all the stuff I removed, old mm's, air pump, hoses, nuts, bolts, etc. weighed about 55 lbs. the new motor mounts weighed 18 lbs. I saved 37 lbs.
